Global delivery

Global versions of our New Zealand Laboratory Education programmes are now available to others around the world. As New Zealand's government funded speciality provider of laboratory education, we have experience and expertise in delivering laboratory education remotely.  Most of our New Zealand based participants never visit our centre.  We are world leaders in teaching and assessing practical laboratory skills remotely.

New Zealanders who are overseas can take our non-global programmes (please contact us for details if this applies to you).

The global versions are different from the NZQA approved versions in the following ways that are more suitable for participants overseas.

  • We give extended time to complete (although you complete once all requirements are met).
  • We offer no-explanation-needed time extensions.
  • We accept payment by credit card.
  • Materials we lend for participants in our non-global programmes are yours to keep permanently.
  • In the very unlikely event that we discontinue the programme during the original enrolment period, we will give a 100% refund.
  • Although the entry requirements are similar, there is more flexibility with the global version.  This is especially true of the English proficiency requirement.  For our non-global programmes we require scores from IELTS or a similar test for many international applicants.  However, for the global programmes, the English requirement is more flexible, and can often be handled informally by a video conversation with us.
  • A "New Zealand Laboratory Education Global" diploma or certificate is awarded instead of the NZQCF qualification.
  • Option of having credential issued in spellings used in the United States (e.g., "Programme", "Authorize")

A few things you should note about global delivery:

  • Many of our programmes require you to be in a professional laboratory.  In New Zealand, we can help those not employed in a laboratory to arrange a placement.  However, for those outside of New Zealand, we can only give limited suggestions.  If you work in a laboratory, great.  Otherwise, you would need to arrange a placement yourself.
  • Our regular educators will work with you in the global programme.  They are available most days 9 am - 9 pm New Zealand time.  You should be sure there are times in that range that work for you to work with us.
  • You will need a good Internet connection, one that reliably allows a good video conversation.

Here are the fees for the entire programme (including materials we send).  Please note that we can accept payment in various currencies.  After you are accepted to the programme, we can quote prices for 60 days in most currencies if you need that to get the expenditure approved.

The link for each programme is to information about the non-global version, which is essentially the same, except as noted above.

To apply for the global version, please complete the general contact form  and specify that you are interested in study by global delivery.
